PATSY RUTH SIMPSON TAYLOR

Patsy Ruth Simpson Taylor

Patsy Ruth Simpson Taylor, age 73, went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2020.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton from 12:00pm to 2:00pm with Memorial Service following at 2:00pm.
“Pat” was born in Bay Springs, MS to Woodrow and Onita Parker. Her best friend has always been her sister, Elaine Stringer. They shared a happy life growing up in Jasper County as self-proclaimed “country girls”. Their fondest memory is running barefoot in the cool dirt behind their daddy’s plow as he worked the fields. They spent their time hanging out at the creek and the Cool Dip. Pat attended Stringer High School where she was the class clown, a cheerleader, and voted Class Favorite. She attended Jones Junior College and Cosmetology School. For over 25 years, Pat owned Hair Waves in Clinton, MS where she loved her clients like family.
Pat’s true calling was her role as “mother”. Her world revolved around her daughter, DeAnna, and son, Neil. Nothing gave her more pleasure than loving, supporting, and spoiling her children. When Pat married the love of her life, Jim Taylor, she embraced and loved his two sons, Jim and Tom, as her own. Her motherly care and affection was then extended to Neil, Jim, and Tom’s wives, and eventually to her precious grandchildren, whom she loved and doted on like no other.
Pat was truly an active mother and grandmother and cherished time with her family. She looked forward to organizing the family’s annual trip to Yogi Park every Halloween. Whether it was cooking delicious meals, having sleepovers and snuggling with grandkids, attending cheer competitions, watching little league games, going to horseback riding events, or surprising someone with a special gift, her family always felt her love and devotion.
Pat resided in Vicksburg, MS with her husband, Jim, their dog, Honey, and a flock of backyard geese. True to her country roots, together they enjoyed a beautiful and simple life filled with fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors.
Pat was always happy and loved by everyone throughout her life.
Pat is survived by her husband, Jim Taylor; mother, Onita Parker; sister, Elaine Stringer; daughter, DeAnna Simpson; sons Neil Simpson (Christi), Jim K. Taylor (Karen), and Tom Taylor (Cindy). Pat’s life was blessed by her grandchildren, Brooke Taylor, Matt Marascalco, Rhett Taylor, Lucy Shelton, and Parker Simpson. She will be missed by her nieces, nephews, and great nephew.
Pat was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow Parker, and her favorite brother-in-law, Billy Stringer.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial gifts to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
