Sylvia Freeman Smith

Sylvia Linda Freeman Smith, 81, died of congestive heart failure on July 21, 2021 at her home in Raymond, Mississippi.

Sylvia was born on February 22, 1940 in Batesville, Mississippi to Hubert Earl Freeman and Bessie Lee Hood Freeman. She graduated from Pope High School and Northwest Community College. She married Charles Quinton Smith and had four children. She was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church in Clinton, Mississippi and highly active at the Woods Senior Center in Clinton, enjoying playing cards, gardening and crocheting. Sylvia was well known for a great sense of humor and speaking her mind, right or wrong; and she was always certain she was right.

Sylvia is survived by her sister, Beulah Chapman; daughter, Pamela Bodo; son-in-law, Christopher Bodo; grandchildren, Morgan L. Stringer, Ashlynd Smith King, Sara Bodo, Dorothy Bodo, Hunter Smith, and John Robert Smith, and former husband, Charles Quentin Smith.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Earl Freeman and Bessie Lee Hood Freeman; sisters, Chelsea Still, June Hyde, and Peggy Towles, and children, Cynthia Smith Stringer, Charles “Chuck” Smith, and Robert Smith.

Visitation will be at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and funeral services will be at Northside Baptist Church in Clinton on Friday at 10:00 am preceded by a visitation at 9:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, please give donations to Northside Baptist Church.
