Homer Louis Boyd

Homer Louis Boyd, 83, of Learned passed away on February 8, 2021 at the University Hospital in Jackson.

Homer was born June 1, 1937 to Bill and Flora Boyd. He was an outstanding player for the Hinds Jr. College football team and was later inducted into the HCC sports Hall of Fame. He went on to play football at the University of Southern Mississippi. At Southern, he was on the 1958 team that won the Division II College National Championship.

After college, Homer was a painter, the he worked for Penrod for a number of years as a Tool Pusher. He finished his career as a maintenance man at Cal-Maine Foods in Edwards.

Homer was a member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church Learned, MS for many years and most recently a member of Hinds Independent Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Barbara. They were married 58 years. Homer also leaves behind his daughter Rebecca Cirelli, her husband Cory, and two grandsons, Bennett and Owen, all of Plum, Pennsylvania. He also leaves behind his brother Ray of Bolton, many Boyd cousins, and his three best friends Sammy, Wayne, and Wesley.

Donations may be made to your favorite church or charity. There will be a family and close friends graveside service at Old Lebanon Presbyterian church Cemetery at 10:00 am on Friday February12, 2010.
