Winston Walters, 79, of Madison, MS, died after a lengthy illness on November 23, 2021. He loved the outdoors, and his greatest joy was passing down to his children and grandchildren his skills at hunting and fishing. His devotion and concern were poured out to all the members of his blended family. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Christ United Methodist Church, 6000 Old Canton Road. Visitation is at 10 AM and the service is at 11 AM.
Winston was born January 20, 1942, in Winnsboro, LA and grew up in on a farm in Gilbert, LA, one of nine children. His years on the farm confirmed his love of nature and his dexterity with handling any kind of repair. He had a long career in the industrial hardware business where he forged many deep friendships.
His pallbearers include Brian Berch, Don Byington, Keith Hutchinson, Paul Logan, Rob Neblett, and Bruce Randall. His honorary pallbearers are Mike Long, Jimmy Wayne Pettis, and Laney Walters.
Winston was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ethel Walters, his sisters Lessie Bentley, Dovie Denham, Bonnie Vaughn and Effie Whitfield, his brothers Thomas and Clint Walters, his stepson Bob Medlin, and step granddaughter Katie Medlin.
He leaves behind his wife Bonnie Shinault Walters, his son Timothy Walters and wife Wendy, his grandson Laney Walters, his brothers Bob Walters and wife Barbara and Denson Walters and wife Carolyn, his stepsons Bart and Brad Medlin, his step grandchildren Ally, Bob, Jeana, Joshua, and three great grandchildren.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Parkinson Foundation, 200 S.E. First Street, Unit 800, Miami, Florida 33131 or Christ United Methodist Church, 6000 Old Canton Road, Jackson, MS 39211.
