William Franklin Williams Sr. (Billy)
May 24, 1950 - Jun 28, 2025
William Franklin Williams Sr. (Billy), age 75, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 28th, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. A resident of the Jackson area since he was 5, Billy was born on May 24th, 1950, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Mary Frances and William Thomas Williams. He graduated from Wingfield High School in 1969, where he dedicatedly participated in football and baseball. Billy was a strong man in his faith and was a devoted member of Pocahontas Baptist Church. He was happily married to Beverly Williams, who was his partner in life for 52 years.
Billy was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. He was preceded in death by his father, William Thomas Williams; mother, Mary Francis Williams; and son, Billy "Bear" Williams Jr. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Williams; daughters Belinda (Chad) Pigg, Beronica (Don) Stringfellow, and Bridget Williams; sons Brian "Buck" Williams and Brad Williams; grandchildren Mason Pigg, Brady Pigg, Kasey Pigg, Ashton Stringfellow, and Kabie Stringfellow; and many others whom he loved and cherished.
Billy, who could be found sitting behind the center field fence, was a familiar face at the ball fields. He enjoyed supporting his children at all their athletic events, which often included softball tournaments, baseball tournaments, football games, powerlifting competitions, and track/cross-country meets. Billy was a reverent Alabama football fan, and could often be found cheering them on every Saturday afternoon. In addition, he had a passionate love for riding horses and often spent his free time playing his guitar, climbing trees, and taking long walks around his lake.
Growing up, Billy was a very talented person. He was chosen, as one of two players, to the MS Allstate Football Team and was also part of a neighborhood band. Billy Williams will always be remembered for his compassionate, loving, and dedicated spirit.
