William "Lance" Tolbert

William "Lance" Tolbert, 51, of Brandon passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2026, with his beloved dogs, Hawk and Dottie, at his feet.

Lance was the devoted son of Ann Fagan Tolbert and James Larry Tolbert (Sheila), a loving brother to Brandi Tolbert Bukvich (Ryan), and a proud uncle to Bryce and Anna Ryan Bukvich.

A true Renaissance man, Lance excelled at everything he set his mind to. Whether he was playing sports, building a duck blind, growing tomatoes, or assembling a trampoline for his niece and nephew, he approached every task with enthusiasm and determination. Endlessly curious and remarkably capable, Lance was happiest when he was learning and helping others. A forever student, Lance had read and studied the bible many times - finishing it for the first time when he was in Junior High.

Lance was a star athlete whose remarkable talent shined on the ballfields of 471 and beyond. He was known for hitting bombs and throwing strikes. His God-given ability, combined with a relentless work ethic, led him to play collegiate baseball at Auburn before finishing his career at his beloved Ole Miss. He earned the role of the Rebels' "Friday Night Guy" and developed a lifelong love for Oxford and Ole Miss, a place that brought him much happiness. Hotty Toddy!

More important than any accomplishment was the way Lance loved people. He loved his family fiercely, spoiled his pets, and was deeply loyal. A protector to his core. Nothing meant more to Lance than helping Mimi in her yard, watching college baseball with his dad, telling his sister how beautiful she was, and doting on his niece and nephew.

His presence was larger than life, and he never met a stranger. Whether a conversation lasted five minutes or five hours, Lance had a rare gift for making everyone feel important. He loved others the way Jesus taught us to love.

Professionally, Lance was equally as diverse and dedicated. He conquered politics on Capitol Hill, served the state as a political fundraiser, worked in development for Ole Miss, and earned his Series 7 working in wealth management. Over the past several years, he worked tirelessly for SuperTalk as an on-air personality and a producer. He was best known as the host for the Mississippi Farm Bureau High School Scoreboard Show. Lance was incredibly talented and beloved.

Heaven has welcomed Lance joyfully - We have no doubt that he is in heaven fishing with Grandaddy, drawing with Dot, shucking corn with Mamaw, and enjoying conversation with his Papaw. Dear Lance, thank you for loving us so well. We believe in the promise of Heaven and long for the day we see your smile - and feel the warmth of your big embrace.
