William Sheffield, age 92, passed away at his Clinton home of 65 years on Tuesday, March 12.

A long- time resident of Clinton, Mr. Bill poured himself into many aspects of the Clinton community.  He helped start Clinton's Little League and the Clinton YMCA, volunteered at the Clinton Community Nature Center, and served on the board of the Clinton 4Cs.  He was a proud member of the First United Methodist Church for over 60 years, serving his Sunday School class and the Methodist Men.  Upon graduating from Itawamba Junior College and Mississippi State, he worked at the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) until his retirement.  His many friends from MDOT and the MDOT Federal Credit Union brought him great joy.

Bill is predeceased by his parents, Zeke Sheffield and Ruth (Boren) Sheffield, his brother Joe (Frances) Sheffield, and his wife of 37 years, Sadie.  He is survived by his children, Michael (Kathy) Sheffield, Susan (Mark) Sheffield, and Amy (Chris) McCartney, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Laura Sheffield, Joel Sheffield, Julia (Andrew) Stublen, Will Izenson, Abby McCartney, Lark Izenson, Claire McCartney, and his adored great-grandchild, Isabella King.  He is also survived by his dear sister-in-law, Betty Warren, and his numerous nephews, nieces, great nieces, and great nephews.

Visitation will be at Wright & Ferguson (Clinton) on Thursday, March 14, 5 - 7 PM.  We will gather at First United Methodist Church, Friday, March 15 for visitation at 1:30 p.m. and a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. followed by a private graveside service.
