William Wesley "Bill" Ogle, 83, born July 20, 1938, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at his home.
He was born in Cheyenne, WY the third of four children to William Elrod Ogle and Lotus Alta Emmons. He was raised in an army family that traveled extensively until settling in Alexandra, Virginia, where he graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1956.
In 1960, He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Business Administration. After being active in ROTC at VA Tech he was commissioned in the USMC. He became a helicopter pilot where he spent the next 20 years and loved every moment of those years. He was the aircraft maintenance officer of HMM265. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 20 years of service and dedication. His personal awards include Distinguished Flying Cross (two awards), Air Medal with Gold Star and numeral 34, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V" and the Combat Action Award.
The family moved to Brandon, MS. In 1980, when he began his career with Beech Aerospace (later Raytheon Aerospace). Working for Beech allowed him to keep his pilot license and continue his love of flying. He retired in 1999 as the Director of HR.
Former member of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church where he served as Senior Warden and is a current member of Saint Mark's United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Jane White Ogle; his daughters Ellen Ogle Creekmore (husband Kevin) and Marie Ogle; his grandson, Augustus William Ogle; brother James Ogle, and brother-in-law Wright Meeler. As well as several nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Lotus, his sisters Mozelle Jaffe and Donna Meeler.
A visitation will be held at Wright & Ferguson, Flowood, MS on Thursday, March, 31, 2022, at 10:00 am followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am in the Wright & Ferguson Chapel in Flowood, MS.
Memorials may be made to The Gary Sinise Foundation or The Stew Pot.
