William, better known as Bill, was born November 1, 1944, in Jasper, AL, the son of Joseph Curtis Jones and Grace Evans Jones.
He graduated from Citronelle High School in Citronelle, AL. He continued his education in Boston, MA. Following his education and training, he began his career as a field engineer with Honeywell, where he worked with dedication and skill for many years. His expertise later led him to work as a contractor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he continued to make a meaningful impact through his work.
He had a love for the outdoors and spent countless hours camping, fishing—especially fly fishing and crafting his own flies—and enjoying the beauty of nature. A skilled cook, he was an active member of the Mississippi Dutch Oven Cooking Club, where he shared his love of traditional cooking with friends and family. Bill's love for life, family, and the simple joys of a campfire meal will never be forgotten. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra Jones, and his children: Randy Jones (Terri), Amanda Rouchon, and Melissa Crowson, 4 grandchildren: Justin Rouchon, Ryan Rouchon (Samantha), Jodi Gibson (Kaleb), and Robin Tatum (Chris), and 2 great-grandchildren: Rivers Rouchon and Kayden Wiley, and another great-grandchild on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Curtis and Grace Evans Jones, and his sister, Sandy Stafford.
Those serving as pallbearers are Dale Baker, Michael Daniels, Justin Rouchon, Kaleb Gibson, Chris Tatum, and Richard Walters; serving as honorary pallbearer is Dennis Clark.
