William Millard
Hubbard
Apr 24, 1953 — Jun 1, 2026
William Millard Hubbard William Millard Hubbard, beloved brother, uncle and great-uncle, passed away unexpectedly on June 1. He was born on April 24,1953, to the late Millard Farmer Hubbard and Dorothy Adams Hubbard in Jackson, the third of three children. He grew up on Cedar Hill Drive and attended Boyd Elementary, Chastain Junior High, Murrah High and graduated from Jackson Prep in 1971. He graduated from Ole Miss and spent a number of years teaching French, his last position being at Chamberlain Hunt in Port Gibson. After teaching he became a caregiver for his mother and enabled her to remain in the family home until she was 95 years old. He continued to live there until his death.
Bill had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke. As a younger brother he was always ready with a carefully planned prank - loving to target his sisters' dates. He was kind, generous and enjoyed keeping up with friends both old and new. He was a master guitar player, including several years with a band. He recorded an album of Christmas songs for his family and was always willing to help any young person who showed an interest in learning to play. His Facebook page is evidence of his admiration of Jimi Hendrix. Bill loved a good game of chess and taking beautiful photographs.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister, Sally Hubbard Towns. He is survived by his sister Jane Hubbard Anderson of Cary, NC, his nieces Catherine Beard (Charlie) of Seattle, WA and Mary Perrin Stark (Scott) of Davidson, NC, and their children Anderson, Adriennce, Mary Catherine, Betsy and Everett. We extend our deepest gratitude to Shirley Porter who has loved and cared for three members of the Hubbard family. It was very meaningful to Bill to reconnect with a stepdaughter, Amy Mitchell of Braselton, GA, for the last 10 years of his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Bill's memory be made online to the nonprofit Guitar Center Music Foundation.
