William Thomas Gatewood (Thomas), 82, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021. Visitation will be at Wright and Ferguson on Tuesday, December 28th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, December 29th at 11:00 AM with a one hour visitation prior to the service.

Thomas was born on September 27, 1939 in Bay Springs, MS. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1961, and served in the National Guard from 1963 to 1972. Thomas retired from the division of Medicaid. He spent his last few years living it up with his granddaughter Lynn Thurman and her husband Brent Thurman of Florence.

Thomas was preceded in death by his father, John Gatewood; mother, Luna Gatewood; wife, Lanell Gatewood; son, Jimmy Young; and daughter, Michelle Gatewood Leonard.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Kimi Denton Ridinger (Casey) of Marion, Lynn Denton Thurman (Brent) of Florence, Katie Young of Tylertown, Olivia Young of Oxford, Parker Young of Oxford, and Casey Rae Young of Oxford. He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Dakota Jane Ridinger, Carly Sue Ridinger, Belle West Thurman, Oliver Thomas Ridinger, and Estella Lane Thurman.
