William Richard Edwards, Sr., age 85, passed away on April 7, 2025 in Katy, TX having recently moved there from Flowood, MS where he had lived for many years.

Richard is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Winnie Ellen Edwards; his sisters Mary Elizabeth Dunn (Roy), Margaret Alice Perry, and Hazel Joyce Walters (Jimmy); children William Richard Edwards, Jr. (Karen), Jeffrey Scott Edwards (Tina), Clifton Todd Edwards (Angie), Alison Ruth White (Roger); grandchildren Amber Edwards, Alex Edwards (Megan), Taryn Edwards, Harrison Edwards, Lodi Ainsworth (Eli), Connor White, Cooper Edwards, Olivia White; and great grandchildren Brynlee Edwards, Joshua Edwards and Isaac Edwards.

Richard was born on March 29, 1940 to Clifton William (Bill) and Anges Earline Edwards in Jackson, MS. He spent his career managing injection molding plastic manufacturing plants. In retirement, he picked up the hobby of refurbishing and customizing pay telephones that he sold around the world to collection enthusiasts.

His family and friends will always remember him as a hard worker who looked after the best for his family and who had a knack for business. He enjoyed tinkering with broken things to make them work again. He maintained his technological curiosity until his passing.

A funeral is scheduled for Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 4111 Highway 80 East, Pearl, MS on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Alex Edwards, his grandson, presiding. Flowers can be sent to Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home at 114 Burney Drive, Flowood, MS 39232.
