Obituary

William "Bill" Dennis Rountree passed away peacefully at his home in Brandon, MS on June 27, 2020.
Bill grew up in Jackson, MS and was a graduate of Central High School in Jackson, MS (1960) and Hinds Jr. College before serving in the Army where he received his X-ray Technician license. He then went on to earn a Master's Degree in Psychology from University of Southern Mississippi after which he taught Psychology at Hinds Jr. College for the next thirty years until his retirement. During retirement, Bill spent much of his time doing what he loved best – fishing.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Delma "D.W." and Thelma Rountree, and his daughter Holly Rountree Evans. He is survived by his daughter Kelly Rountree Barnett, her husband Greg Barnett, grandchildren Carly and Landry; his brothers Rodney Neil Rountree and wife Linda; Mike Rountree and wife Pam; and sister Alice Janetta Rountree Whiteman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family acknowledges and extends its most sincere gratitude to special friend Martha Turner for her many years of friendship and assistance to Bill and his family.
The family honored Bill in a private service at Fannin Baptist Church on June 30th, 2020. Please know that Bill was a staunch supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
