Obituary

William Clyde Box, 85, of Flowood, MS, formerly of Clinton, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital. He was born in Tomnolen, MS, on September 1, 1932, son of the late Claude and Emma (Trussell) Box.

He was a 1950 graduate of Kilmichael High School and then was awarded a basketball scholarship to Delta State University, where he met his wife of 63 years, Anna Rose. He graduated from DSU in 1954 with a B.S. in Mathematics and Physical Education. Following service with the U.S. Air Force, William then devoted 41 years to a career in education as a basketball coach, teacher, principal, and retiring as the Director of the GED Program for Mississippi. He earned the M.S. in Zoology (MSU), the M.S. in School Administration (Mississippi College), and the Educational Specialist Degree (Mississippi College). An avid golfer, he also stayed active by working in the yard, walking his neighborhood (Hunters Ridge in Clinton), and woodworking. Living a full life, he often said, "The good Lord has blessed me so much".

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Anna Rose Hutchison Box; his children, Dennis Box (Cynthia) of Colleyville, TX and Sharon Box Feaster (Brad) of Clinton; five granddaughters, Natalie Feaster Maddock (Mike) of Flowood, Anna Feaster Carroll (David) of Savannah, TN, Callie Rose Box Witcher (Dan) of Houston, TX, Tara Lee Box and Abby Box of Colleyville, TX; five great grandchildren, Allison Maddock, Emily Maddock, Everett Carroll, Walker Carroll, and Willa Rose Witcher; one great granddaughter (Carroll) due in October; two sisters and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the Clinton Cemetery on Friday, June 15, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 14, from 5 - 7 pm at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton.
