Obituary

William Margrave "Bill" Barnett passed away at the age of 91 on August 12th at his home in Clinton, Mississippi.

Born in Oxford Mississippi, Bill attended Mississippi College and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. He received his Master of Business Administration and was Class President at Stanford University Graduate School of Business (Class of 1961).

He served his country for almost 35 years as a Naval Aviator in the U.S. Naval Reserve, flying numerous aircraft models all over the world. One of Bill's last duty stations was commanding a reserve A-4 Skyhawk Squadron at Naval Air Station New Orleans.

After receiving his MBA, Bill was an executive migrant, working for Boise Cascade and in many positions in the Mississippi State Government, including Manager of Industrial Training for the State Board of Community Colleges, Assistant Director of the Mississippi Economic Development Board, and State Park Executive Director. He also served as an Alderman in his local government in Clinton Mississippi.

In retirement Bill loved to play golf, travel, fish, enjoy his family, and then fish some more.

Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara, and his two sons, Arden Barnett (Heidi) of Jackson, Mississippi, and Guy Barnett (Tammy) of Atlanta, Georgia. He's also survived by nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. His only daughter, Jennifer Harchenko, predeceased him last year.

On Saturday August 17th a Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Clinton at 2 p.m. Visitation begins at 1 p.m.
