William Oliver
Barnett
August 21, 1936 – June 9, 2022
Clinton – William O. (Bill) Barnett, 85, transitioned from this earthly home to his heavenly home at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, June 9, 2022. He was born August 21, 1936 to Chester and Lora Barnett in Bruce, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Bruce High School. He received his Bachelor of Science, emphasis in Business Management from the University of Mississippi. He continued his military education, graduating from the National Defense University, Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
His business career was a dual commitment to Procter & Gamble for 35 years, retiring as account executive and from the U. S. Army Reserve as a Colonel.
Bill was active in city government, graduating from Leadership Clinton and currently serving as Ward 3 City Alderman. He was a member of Clinton Chamber of Commerce retirement committee. He also served as past president of the Clinton Lions Club, Attaché boosters, Band boosters, Art Council board, Brick Street Players patron and was a volunteer of the year, Area 8 Special Olympics. In later years, Bill's passion was driving the school bus for Clinton Public School and Attaché. He was an active member of Clinton United Methodist Church.
Bill was a man of great honor and loyalty. His enthusiasm and joy radiated everything he was involved in. Being in his loving presence, hearing his laughter, and having the opportunity to see him cheer for his beloved Rebels and Clinton Arrows will be things we will greatly miss. We rejoice that he is reunited with his Savior and beloved wife, Bonnie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie P. Barnett, son William Brent Barnett and his brother Arthur Barnett.
Those left to honor his memory are his son Brian Barnett (Paul Tracy) of Memphis, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
