Wallace Coates George, 85, of Florence, MS passed away on November 4, 2016. He was born in Jackson, MS and graduated from Central High School. He worked at Glass Containers Corporation and Jackson Packing Company prior to his retirement. Mr. George was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. George, Sr. and Nellie Coates George of Jackson, MS; his wife of 58 years, Doris S. George of Florence, MS; daughter Debra G. George of Jackson, MS; and grandson Marcus Ryan Basye of Terry, MS.

He is survived by two daughters, Dorisa George Basye (David) of Terry, MS; Janet George Green (Donald) of Florence, MS. Grandchildren are Matthew David Basye (Brett) of Edwards, MS; John Lloyd Green and Susan Green Lewis (Nick) of Florence, MS. He was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Bates Anderson Basye, Mattie Ryan Basye, Piper Bane Basye, all of Edwards, MS; and Eli Cole Lewis of Florence, MS. Siblings Robert C. George, Jr. (Sara) of Madison, MS; Julia George of Ridgeland, MS; Alan C. George (Ann) of Brandon, MS; and Alene McNeece of Pearl, MS.

Mr. George was loved by all who met him. Final arrangements are handled by Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home. All services will be held at FBC of Florence, MS with interment at Florence Cemetery. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Florence, MS.
