Bob Owens, 96, passed away at his home on Monday, April 20, 2015. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 5-7 pm at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Wright and Ferguson with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Owens was born in Wesson, Mississippi on October 7, 1918. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps and served during World War II. He was also a member of the local Marine Corps League. He worked as an engine foreman for Illinois Central Railroad and retired after 31 years. He was the first voluntary fire chief for the Lake Harbor Voluntary Fire Department. He enjoyed music, playing the guitar, and was a member of the Central Mississippi Dulcimer Association. He was as avid outdoorsman, especially hunting and fishing. He was also a member of Lake Harbor Baptist Church.
Mr. Owens is survived by his wife, Luceille Owens; his daughter, Barbara Jo Kovarik; three grandchildren, Chuck Kovarik, Lou Ann Srite, and Ben Kovarik; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
