Obituary

Voyce Herrington Bailey completed his journey on Earth on February 22, 2017.
He is now resting in the loving arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior.
Voyce was born to Samuel Monroe Bailey, Sr. and Oree Herrington Bailey on March 24, 1935. He was 81 years old at the time of his death.
He was a Charter Member of Pineview Baptist Church in Clinton, MS, where his handiwork as a master craftsman is shown throughout the sanctuary building. Prior to helping charter Pineview, he was an active member of Midway Baptist Church in Jackson, MS for over 25 years where he, along with his wife, taught pre-school Sunday School Classes for over 20 years. He served as an active Deacon for many years at both Pineview and Midway.
Voyce retired from Scanlon-Taylor Millworks in 2008 after 26 years of employment. Previously he had worked for DeSoto, Inc. for 26 years prior to the closing of their Jackson plant. Voyce was a veteran of the U. S. Army, as a result of being drafted near the end of the Korean War. He served on the Island of Enewetak in the Marshall Islands.
He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He was known for his boundless energy and could work circles around young men half his age. A neighbor once described him as "the workingest man I've ever known".
In addition to his parents, Voyce was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Monroe (Pete) Bailey, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Margarette Clay Bailey; sons Stephen Gregory Bailey and Jay Jonathan Bailey; grandson, Caleb Gregory Bailey; sister-in-law Merian S. Bailey, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Sherry C. Russell & Dr. H. Leo Russell; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any of the following charities, which include Alzheimer's Association, American Lung Association, Samaritan's Purse, The Gideons International, or Community Animal Rescue & Adoption (CARA) in Jackson.
Voyce's family would like to thank the many people at Sta-Home Health & Hospice for their devoted attention during the last several months of his life, and specifically, Kylie Zumbro and Janie Williams who personally took care of him each week
