Elsie Virginia Williams Shoemaker, 88, of Flora, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was born in Madison County, Mississippi, on November 10, 1935. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1954 and married the love of her life, James Ellis Shoemaker, on January 1, 1955. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and homemaker for nearly seventy years, always putting her family first.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James, her parents, Labon and Elizabeth Williams, and her brother, Tommy Williams, all of Flora, Mississippi.

She is survived by her children Bruce Shoemaker, Sr. (Rene), Brenda Creel (Robin), Sandra Gibbons, Paul Shoemaker (Connie), and Kathy Burkes (David); her grandchildren Sara Shoemaker, Amanda Tullos (Neil), Bruce Shoemaker Jr., David Creel (Kasey), Destin Purvis (Harmonie), Michael Creel, and Cody Shoemaker (Kimberly) and her many great-grandchildren.

A graveside service to celebrate Virginia's life will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 11:00 am at Lula Cemetery in Hinds County and officiated by Reverend Neil Tullos. Pallbearers are David Creel, Michael Creel, Destin Purvis, Bruce Shoemaker Jr., Cody Shoemaker, and Jimmy Shoemaker, and honorary pallbearers are Dakin Creel and Brock Creel.
