Obituary

Virginia Parkman Booth, 94, passed away on February 11, 2018. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 12pm to 2pm at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Clinton Cemetery in Clinton.

Mrs. Booth grew up in Clinton, MS where she graduated from Clinton High School. She attended Mississippi College graduating in the class of 1946 with a major in Education. She also attended Graduate school at Indiana University, Bloomington. While working as an elementary school teacher at Key School in Jackson, MS, she obtained a specialty in Psychometry from the University of Southern Mississippi. After completing her graduate education at the University of Southern Mississippi, she worked for many years as a psychometrist for Jackson Public Schools. She retired in 1986 to help raise her two grandchildren, Leslie and Nathan, who were the joys of her life. Mrs. Booth was a strong believer in education and assisted her two sons and grandchildren to obtain advanced degrees.

Mrs. Booth was an active member of First Baptist Church of Clinton where she sang in the sanctuary choir and later the senior choir. Mrs. Booth was a participant in the service activities of First Baptist Church and the Clinton Pilot Club. For the last three years, she had resided at Brookdale Assisted Living in Clinton. The family is most grateful to the staff at Brookdale for its thoughtful, kind service to Mrs. Booth during her final years and to Baptist Hospital for its excellent care through several hospital stays. A very special thanks to Baptist Home Hospice Services and their staff for seeing the family through a difficult time.

Mrs. Booth was preceded in death by her parents, Atley Parkman and Ida Wingate Parkman; her husband, George Booth; her son, Richard H. Booth; her siblings, Asher Polly Ainsworth, Ruth Taranto, Idabelle Panel, Roland H. Parkman, Frances Hartel and William Parkman.

Mrs. Booth is survived by her son, Dr. Philip G. Booth (Janis) of Clinton; grandchildren, Leslie Jean Booth and Nathan Richard Booth; and siblings, Dr. James E. Parkman (Dot), Howard Parkman and Sue Parkman Pevey (Gerald).
