Virgil Eugene Parrish, age 97, died of Alzheimer's on July 9, 2024, at his home in Florence, MS.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Sylvia Myers Parrish; daughter, Teresa Ann Berry; grandchildren (Chase, Angel, Misty, and Wendy); son, Kerry Virgil Parrish and wife (Mary Ann); grandchildren, (Dustin and Justin); 7 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lucian and Eutra Parrish; his siblings, (Johnny Word, Tom, Jim, Vera Jo Carlton) all of Florence, AL.

Virgil was born on August 2, 1926, in Tishomingo, MS, to parents, Lucian & Eutra Parrish. He graduated Coffee High School in Florence AL and attended Freed-Hardeman University. A World War II Veteran, he enlisted in the Navy in July 28, 1944 till July 11, 1946, served state side at Naval Station Norfolk.

Virgil and Sylvia married on December 4, 1948, married 75 years. They made their home in Jackson MS. He worked in various management roles at A&P Grocery Store and Sunflower Grocery. Virgil was a good man and loving father. An active Christian having served as Deacon at Belvedere Road and Siwell Road Church of Christ in Jackson, MS.

A visitation will be held for Virgil on July 10, 2024, from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home of Flowood, 114Burney Drive, Flowood, MS 39232 followed by the funeral service at 1:00pm. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
