After the children got older, she worked at an insurance agency in Jackson and Birmingham, and later for Ready Mix Concrete in Birmingham. Vicky and Jimmy returned to Learned, MS and took care of Jimmy's mother until her passing. They spent much of their time traveling together. Jimmy was an avid clay shooter, and they traveled to numerous places across the U.S. She and Jimmy loved to drive and visit historic sites and parks.
She was a wonderful wife to Jimmy, constantly seeing to his needs, even before he had them. As Jimmy started having health issues, she was even more attentive. They were incredibly happy, loved each other deeply, and she is irreplaceable.
She and Jimmy were members of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, MS, where they have attended since the mid-seventies, except for a fifteen-year departure to Birmingham. She loved her Church and Sunday school class very much.
