Obituary

Veronica (Vicky) Brinkley Pittman

Vicky was born on May 12, 1949, in Memphis, Tennessee.  She went to her heavenly reward on July 3, 2025, unexpectedly at the age of 76.

Vicky was the first of five children born to a William (Bill) Griffith Brinkley, Sr., and Veronica Graham Brinkley who moved to Jackson from Memphis in 1953.  She attended St. Joseph High School, Calloway High School, and graduated from Mississippi College.  While she was teaching in Florence, she met James (Jimmy) William Pittman, Jr., they married on March 24 , 1979, and enjoyed 46 years of loving togetherness.

She is survived by her children; Dawn Pittman Harrell of New Orleans, LA; Dustin (Stacy) Lane Pittman of Learned, MS; and Jennifer Hudspeth Murray of Brandon, MS; siblings, Clair (the late Robert) Scheid of Denver, CO; William "Bill" (the late Jeannie) of Madison, MS; and Louis (Jennifer) Brinkley of Aliquippa, PA.  Vicky is further survived by grandchildren; Kyle (Alexis) Delong of Brandon, MS; Nicole (Aaron) White of Brandon, MS; James (Savannah) Harrell of Starkville, MS; Paige Moore of Vicksburg, MS; and Alexis Moore of Jayess, MS.  Vicky was preceded in death by her brother Paul and sister-in-law Laurie Brinkley of McDonough, GA.

After marrying Jimmy Pittman, she resigned from teaching to raise her three children.  They were active in sports and other clubs, which kept her constantly busy.  She loved her children very much and supported them however possible.  She was also an avid tennis player, playing at the highest club level and earning many awards.

After the children got older, she worked at an insurance agency in Jackson and Birmingham, and later for Ready Mix Concrete in Birmingham.  Vicky and Jimmy returned to Learned, MS and took care of Jimmy's mother until her passing.  They spent much of their time traveling together.  Jimmy was an avid clay shooter, and they traveled to numerous places across the U.S.  She and Jimmy loved to drive and visit historic sites and parks.

She was a wonderful wife to Jimmy, constantly seeing to his needs, even before he had them.  As Jimmy started having health issues, she was even more attentive.  They were incredibly happy, loved each other deeply, and she is irreplaceable.

She and Jimmy were members of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, MS, where they have attended since the mid-seventies, except for a fifteen-year departure to Birmingham.  She loved her Church and Sunday school class very much.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, MS.  The funeral service will start at 11:00 a.m. and will be followed by a luncheon at the church.
