Obituary

Verna Ruth Putnam, of Clinton, MS passed away quietly and peacefully in her home on February 26, 2022, at 6:15 pm. She was surrounded by her children and told each that she loved them, before closing her eyes and crossing the river to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mrs. Putnam is survived by her five children, Charlotte Denson; Virginia Snyder; Allan Gould; Jerry Gould and Michael Putnam (Dennise). She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Putnam was born in McCool, MS on January 8, 1930. Her parents, Joe Wheeler Myers and Lyda Ferguson Myers, later moved the family to Marydell, MS, where she attended Marydell High School and excelled in math, while enjoying reading and art. She graduated in 1948 and was the only one of her siblings to graduate high school. After high school she moved to Jackson, where she worked, raised her family and attended Daniel Baptist Church. Upon retirement she moved to Clinton where she remained until her passing. Through her, came so many other beautiful lives and families. While celebrating her long, productive, and meaningful life, this Matriarch will also be missed terribly by all who loved her.
