Obituary

On March 18, 2025, Susan Davis Anderson departed this life at her home, Ansonia Farm. She was the daughter of Lucy and Duke Davis.

Susan and her sister, Ann, grew up in the Fondren neighborhood of Jackson, Mississippi. While attending sixth grade at Duling Elementary, she met the boy who would become the love of her life. Susan married John R. Anderson on April 17, 1954. Although, she claimed to be a city girl, she spent the next seventy years on a farm, the wife of a cattleman.

Susan was a beautiful woman with a lovely spirit who adored John Anderson completely. Together they enjoyed traveling, exploring new restaurants, and dancing together. She loved staying connected to her friends and family through sending cards and letters that inspired and uplifted them.

She and John loved Flora and supported the community for over seven decades. Susan attended First Methodist Church of Flora and was an active member for many years and particularly loved singing in the choir. She was also well-known for the authority that she brought to the flower guild, especially when it came to decorating the sanctuary for Christmas.

Susan and John were inseparable since exchanging vows at St. Luke's Methodist Church over seventy years ago. After John's passing on February 3, 2025, Susan prayed, daily, to be reunited with him, and she shared that prayer and desire openly. Forty-three days later, her prayers were answered.

Susan is survived by her nieces, Rebecca Avery, Elizabeth Sisco (Steven) and Susan Potts (Don), as well as her nephews, Benjamin Banahan (Susan Kurland), John Banahan (Deborah), Phillip Harris (Rita), and David Harris (Deborah), as well as a host of great and great, great nieces and nephews.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents Lucy and Duke Davis, her sister, Ann Harris, and her beloved husband, John R. Anderson.

Visitation will be held at Flora Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, with a Celebration of Life to follow immediately thereafter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Flora Methodist Church.
