Obituary

"He was my favorite person in the world" was how he was referred to by many.

Steven Douglas Mann, 61, died peacefully at his home in Tampa, Florida, on December 31st, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on February 4th, 1963 in Jackson, Mississippi, to Homer and Lee Mann.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Julia Mann Boyd.
He is survived by his three beloved children who meant the world to him, Grayson, Julia, and Dylan Mann all of Tampa; his sister, Mary Mann Richardson (Steven) and niece, Mary Ashley Richardson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He is also survived by his brother in law, David Boyd, and nephew, Austin Boyd, of Pearl, Mississippi; his niece, Haley Boyd Derrig (Mike) and great niece, Bennett Derrig, of San Pedro, California. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Michele Jackson, of Tampa, Florida and good friend, Nicole Simmons of Madison, Mississippi.

He graduated from Madison Ridgeland Academy in 1981, and Mississippi State University in 1986 with a Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He worked as a golf course designer with professionals such as: Pete Dye, Jerry Pate, Jack Nicolas, and Donald Trump. His most cherished role was that as "Dad" as he was a very loving and devoted father.

He loved the outdoors so much that while growing up he would spend every summer with his grandmother, "Mama Campbell" and his cousins at the country house. He loved to fish, especially deep sea fishing and was a gifted artist. He also was very devoted to his dogs, Hank and Riley.

He had a contagious laugh and a kind heart. He was good. He will be greatly missed by all.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 8th in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton, Mississippi.
