Obituary

Stevan William Bonom, 77, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 5, 2022, following a short illness.

Born in Jackson, MS on October 11, 1944, Steve was the son of the late Evelyn Edwina Oswalt Trimm and Milton Bonom. He attended Provine High School and obtained a degree in accounting from Mississippi College. He became a Certified Public Accountant and worked for the Mississippi State Tax Commission until he retired. Following retirement, he continued to do part-time tax work for Windham and Lacey.

Steve had a great love of travel and the arts. He and his wife, Sandra, had the opportunity to visit many countries all over the world. He enjoyed the symphony, visiting the art museum, and attending the theater. Steve had natural artistic and culinary talent. His beautiful paintings can be found hanging throughout his home and the homes of his family. He was known for many signature dishes that were often requested at family gatherings.  Though Steve was a man of few words, he wrote the most fantastic letters, and his family looked forward to receiving his very entertaining "Monday" emails. He attended St. Paul Catholic Church where he delighted in serving as a eucharistic minister.  Steve enjoyed playing golf for many years and exercised at the gym regularly. But most of all, Steve enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be so greatly missed.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Frank Bonom.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Johnston Bonom; their four children, Carolyn Whyte (Jim), Patty Dunn, David Bonom (Julie), and Ginger Raff (Matthew); grandchildren, Catherine Whyte (Zach), Stevan Whyte (Maci), Gabbie Dunn, Garrett Dunn, Gage Dunn, Mary Emma Raff, and Nash Raff; great-grandchildren, Zoey Whyte and Alice Whyte; and brothers, Thomas Bonom and David Bonom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church in Flowood in memory of Steve.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church, Flowood, MS. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
