Shirley Wood Pullen Matthews, 80, of Jackson, MS, passed from this life on November 25, 2015, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS, with a visitation beginning one hour before service time.

Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.



Mrs. Matthews was born January 11, 1935 in Greenville, Mississippi and was a member of Van Winkle United Methodist Church



She is survived by her sons, William Dowe Matthews, III (Robin), and Joseph Rudolph Matthews; her daughters, Susan Matthews Hennington(Thomas), and Carol Matthews Shields; grandchildren, Halley Hennington Eagon (Andrew), Thomas Allen Hennington, William Dowe Matthews, IV, Kenneth Allen Matthews, Gabrielle Leilani Shields, Andrew Rusk Hennington, Joseph Rudolph Matthews, Jr.; great-grandchild, Porter Leitz Eagan; sister, Carolyn Pullen Hudson. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.




She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Rusk Pullen and Margaret Wood; her husband, William D. Matthews, Jr.; her sister, Janice Pullen Galey.
