It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Jean Gilmore, a beloved
sister, aunt and friend. Shirley died peacefully at her home in Brandon, MS on August
25, 2025.
Shirley was born on October 30, 1939, in Vicksburg, MS to Walter Oscar and Elsie
Estella Flowers of Carlisle, MS. She married the love of her life, Charles L. Gilmore of
Clinton, MS, on September 24, 1960. Shirley graduated from Port Gibson High School
and went on to get an Associate of Arts Degree from Co-Lin Community College. She
loved to travel, watch football and spend time with her family. Shirley had a fierce love
for her twin brothers, her husband, her family and friends. She was truly a remarkable
woman and will be dearly missed.
Shirley is survived by her brother, Ronnie Flowers(Betty); her nephews, David Flowers,
Timmy Harrell, and Craig Flowers; her nieces, Angie Flowers- Redding, Lisa Flowers-
Sojourner, and Avery Flowers- Keslinger, and sisters-in-law, Helen Flowers and Betty
Flowers. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Oscar and Elsie Flowers, her
husband, Charles Gilmore, her sister, Joyce Flowers and her brother, Donnie
Flowers(Helen).
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 4:00 pm. until
6:00 pm., at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home located at 201 Hinds Blvd., Raymond,
MS 39154.
