Obituary

Sheryl Lynn Talton

March 26, 1954 - January 13, 2026

Sheryl Lynn Talton went home to be with the Lord in Jackson, Mississippi on Monday January 13, 2026.  She was 71 years old.

Sheryl was born in Miami, Florida in 1954 to wonderful parents, Wilbert S. "Bill" and Patricia Ann "Pat" Willis.  Sheryl was an only child, but had two aunts that each had children, Aunt Mary Elizabeth "Bette" McCarl and Genevieve "Ginny" Holloway.  Her Aunt Bette and Uncle Jim McCarl had five children, of which Sheryl was very close. She spent many summers with her cousins at the beach in NC, and they became her siblings, Becky, Phil, Paul, Joy, and David McCarl.

Sheryl spent the first few years of her life in Miami, Florida, and after battling severe allergies and asthma, the family relocated to the Orlando area in Central Florida. Sheryl would go on to live with parents in Altamonte Springs and Winter Park, Florida.  Her family also spent one year in Maryland before moving back to Florida. As a young girl, Sheryl loved being with her family… especially her beloved grandparents, (Maternal) Earle Moore Willis and Daisy Batson Willis, and (Paternal) Myles Brenson McDonald and Lucille Willis McDonald.  She was surrounded by loving relatives and loved traveling and spending time with them the most.

She met and married her husband of 45 years, Mark Talton, at Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida in 1971.  She soon gave birth to their first child, Robert Mark Talton Jr. "Robbie".  They would move to Houston, Texas in 1972, working in retail while attending college, and then decided to relocate back to their home of Central Florida, settling in the Orlando area.  Sheryl gave birth to their second child in 1978, a daughter, Kelly Ann Talton, who sadly passed away on October 31, 1978.  This was a difficult time in the young couple's lives.  There would soon be joy again at the birth of their third child, a daughter, Ashley Lynn Talton, on April 23, 1980.

Sheryl was a strikingly beautiful and vibrant woman throughout her life.  She had many interests and loved being with her family and many friends.

Sheryl loved playing Barbies in her closet and in her playhouse as a little girl in Altamonte Springs.  She loved digging for oysters in Miami with her grandmother.  Sheryl loved reading biographies and Southern Living magazines and watching HGTV.  She loved listening to the Beatles and Rod Stewart with a little Johnny Cash and Harry Connick Jr. thrown in.

Sheryl also loved Talton family vacations to the mountains of the Carolinas, countless trips to Disney, and many an Atlanta Braves game in Atlanta… and also many Los Angeles Dodgers games in Vero Beach, Florida.  Sheryl was always there to cheer her son Rob on from the bleachers at his baseball and basketball games, and would even pitch to him in the backyard. Sheryl never missed a game.  Sheryl also never missed a theater or choir performance of Ashley's or Robbie's.

Sheryl enjoyed working with patients as the office manager of several doctor's offices over time and loved being a homemaker and Mom.  She also had a great gift for Interior Design and Architecture and did freelance design work for clients. Sheryl Talton's homes were always exquisitely decorated.

Later in life, Sheryl became more involved in church and became a Stephen Minister while attending Mandarin United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Florida.  Stephen Ministers are lay congregation members trained to provide one-to-one care to those experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or relocation.

She was beautiful, funny, and always up for adventure and a milkshake!  She loved good food, good music, travel, and spontaneous trips.  She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was an amazing mother to Robbie and Ashley.

Sheryl was married to Mark Talton for nearly 45 years.  Together, they built a beautiful family, raising two children and seeing their seven grandchildren be born.  They shared a wonderful marriage until Mark's untimely death in 2016 from cancer.

After nearly 10 years, Sheryl remarried in a Commitment Ceremony on December 20, 2025 to Irwin Douglas "Doug" Noble.  Doug is a wonderful, kind, and giving man who made our mother happy in the final year of her life.  He kept her company and made her smile and laugh, and he introduced her to many people who became friends. Doug also has a wonderful, loving, and kind family who were all there to support and pray for Sheryl in the final days of her life.  For that, the Talton family is forever grateful.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Pat Willis, her daughter, Kelly Ann Talton, and her husband Mark Talton.  She is survived by her son, Rob Talton, her daughter, Ashley Talton Ashley, son-in-law, Andy Ashley, grandsons, Dr. Cole Talton, Jack Talton, Thomas Ashley, and Hank Ashley, granddaughters, Abigail Talton, Sutton Ashley, and Kate Ashley. Nieces, Amie Talton Moody, Amanda Davis Raymond, and nephews, Brad Davis, and Jason Talton.

Sheryl lived an extraordinary life touching many lives along the way.  She will be greatly missed. She will be forever remembered for her beauty, grace, and kindness.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorial contributions be made to the Methodist Senior Services Sunday Fund. The Sunday Fund was created to meet the financial burdens of elders living on MSS campuses across Mississippi including Riggs Manor in Raymond.
