Obituary

Sherwood Clifton Johnson, 74 passed away on February 27, 2025.

Sherwood was born on October 21, 1950, in Minden, LA to Grady and Velma "Sybil" Johnson. He graduated from Haughton High School in Haughton, LA where he made many lifelong friends. He was a shift supervisor for Peco Foods for 20+ years before retiring. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, volunteering his time working on the church grounds, and always looked forward to spending time with family and friends. He was truly a kind soul that always put others ahead of himself. He loved dancing and had a goofy personality. His smile was contagious and could brighten any room. He was a member of the Eastern Shore Baptist Church in Daphne, AL where he was dearly loved.

Sherwood was preceded in death by both of his parents, Grady and Velma "Sybil" Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Samantha Johnson; sister, Linda White (Robert); 2 brothers, Larry Johnson (Rhonda), and Gary Johnson (Barbara); children Stacie Ellers (Patrick), Dayne Johnson (Marissa), Sarah Lott (Donald), Mark Davis, Jessica Pope (Garret), Mazeigh Brown (Dolleana); and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and their 2 dogs Sandy and Elsa.

He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all that knew him. We will rejoice in knowing that he is healed and whole and making a place for us in our loving Father's home.

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters.

He restores my soul.

He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil,

For you are with me;

Your rod and your staff,

They comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,

And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

Psalm 23
