Sgt. Zachary W. McCombs died on October 28, 2018 while serving his country in the United States Army. He was 31 years old.
Sgt. McCombs was born on August 5, 1987 in Vicksburg, MS. During his Army service, he was stationed at Fort Benning, GA, Germany and Fort Drum, NY. While at Fort Drum, he was an instructor for the Air Assault School. Sgt. McCombs proudly served his country with four deployments.
Sgt. McCombs is preceded in death by his grandfathers, George V. Ward, Jr. and Clyde "Mac" McCombs. He is survived by his wife, Christy; children, Catelee, Zachary, Wyatt and Madalyn; parents, Patrick S. McCombs, Julia Murphy and stepfather, Jerry; grandmother, Peggy "Noni" Ward, Pat and Harold Easley; and brothers and sisters, Amanda, Anna, Ethan, Katherine, Emillie and Clara.
Sgt. McCombs was a kind and protective soul who believed in justice and equality. He worked hard to put others ahead of himself. He enjoyed cooking and grilling, hunting and just hanging out with family and friends.
