Samuel "Sam" Nelson Puckett, 58, of Raymond, MS, went to his heavenly home on February 25, 2024, in Clinton, MS.

Sam was born on December 11, 1965, in Jackson, MS, to the late W.A. Puckett, Jr and Nellie Seale Puckett. Sam was a 1983 graduate of Magnolia Academy. He also held a Bachelor and Master of Art degrees from Mississippi College. Sam worked as the Public Relations Director at First Baptist Church Raymond and as an art instructor at Mississippi College. Sam's hobbies included drawing, painting, photography, singing, gardening, and astronomy. Sam was also very active in his church.

Sam is survived by his sister Ellen Dansby (Dorman) of Learned, MS; his brother Al Puckett (Ann) of Terry, MS; niece Kerri Walters (Daniel) of Heidelberg, MS; niece Tessa Brouillette (Steve) of Ponchatoula, LA: nephew Alex Puckett (Morgan) of Canton, MS; great nieces Kaley Walters, Olivia and Molly Kate Brouillette; and great nephews Cohen, Cole, and Callen Puckett. Sam is also survived by a host of cousins including Maria Seale and her husband Glenn Bond who were gracious enough to open their home and care for Sam during his final days.

Sam was preceded in death by his father, W.A. (Billy) Puckett, his mother, Nellie Seale Puckett, and nephew W.A. (Little Billy) Puckett, Jr.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at First Baptist Church Raymond at 2:00 p.m. with visitation at 1:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Dr. Mark Strum. Wright & Ferguson in Clinton, MS, are handling arrangements.
