Roy Earl Nielsen, 71, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson.

Mr. Nielsen was born in Brooklyn, New York. He joined the Air Force on September 5, 1967, served his country in Vietnam and was honorably discharged September 4, 1973.

Mr. Nielsen will be laid to rest at 10:00 am Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Mississippi State Veterans Cemetery in Newton. The Patriot Guard Riders, an organization which ensures dignity and respect at memorial services honoring Fallen Military Heroes, First Responders and Honorably Discharged Veterans, will lead the funeral procession to the cemetery. Some will serve as pallbearers, while other members of the Patriot Guard will stand in honor.
