Ronald (Ron) Bertran Purvis, born on February 21, 1950, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, at the age of 74. Ron was a man known for his kindness, wit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. A man of warmth, humor, and deep compassion, Ron touched the lives of all who knew him.

A beloved father, Ron is survived by his cherished daughter, Rhonia Purvis Cupstid, who was the light of his life. His bond with Rhonia was one of deep love and pride, and he always spoke fondly of the memories they shared. Ron's legacy of love, strength, and humor will live on through her and her husband Marcus, along with his adored grandchildren, Cloeigh and Crosby Cupstid, who brought immense joy to his life. He was so proud and honored to be their Bert.

He is also survived by his brothers, Edwin and Randy Purvis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he held dear. In addition. Ron shared many years of special memories with his secondary family—Jerry and Carol Hazelwood; Brian, Jenny, Allie, and Drew Hazelwood; Brett Hazelwood; Wesley, Lindsay, Brayden, and Baleigh Quick.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Henry D Purvis; his sister, Martha Loraine Purvis; and his brothers, HD Purvis, Jr., and Donald L. Purvis. His passing marks the end of an era, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he left behind.

Ron touched the lives of many with his warm smile and generous spirit. Whether it was through his work, friendships, funny stories, opinions, organizational skills, or family, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be carried in the hearts of those who knew him.

In honor of Ron's wishes, a visitation will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 3pm, with funeral to follow at 4pm. The service will be held at Morrison Heights Baptist Church, Clinton, MS, the church family that he faithfully served and loved.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Batson's Children Hospital, Jackson, MS, in memory of Ron.
