Ronald Barry Johnston, 70 walked into the arms of Jesus on May 13, 2024. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 18, at FBC Fannin, service at 11:30 am, followed by interment in the FBC Fannin Cemetery, Brandon, MS. Dr. Ron Bird will officiate along with Bro. Steve Abercrombie and Pastor James Winslett.
Ron was born May 27,1953 in Pasadena, TX to Raymond & Mary Jo Newsom Johnston.
He attended Edinburg High School before enlisting in the USMC where he proudly
served our country, spending two tours of duty in Vietnam. He worked as a construction superintendent for Barnes, Inc. for 20+ years before retiring in 2012 due to poor health.
Ron was an avid deer hunter, proficient with a bow and enjoyed spending each winter at deer camp with his wife. He was an active member of FBC Fannin and the "He is Risen" Sunday School Class.
Ron had a heart as big as Texas and would give you the shirt off his back. He enjoyed cooking and was known for his fried chicken, homemade biscuits and fall off the bone ribs. He adored his grandchildren and his Yorkies.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 44 years, Nancy Nunnery Johnston of Brandon, step-daughter Denise Owen of Pearl, bonus-daughter Kim Harrell of Brandon; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren & sister Dian Gordon of Taylorsville, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Larry Johnston of New Zealand, sister Sammy Lane Meridith of GA & step-daughter Darlene Owen Leed.
Heart felt thanks are extended to the Hospice Team & Lauren Musslewhite, the best Hospice Nurse, who went beyond the call & took such excellent, loving care of him.
Serving as pall bearers are Justin Leed, Colby Harrell, James Winslett, Byron Johnston, Phillip Palmer and Lee Robinson. Honorary pall bearer is Jerry Sanders, his best bud.
