Roma Dean Hutton Martin, age 88, of Bolton, passed away July 24, 2021. She was born on January 19, 1933 to Percy and Myrtice Thorne Hutton.
On October 1, 1949, she married Hulon Martin, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2012.
Roma Dean accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior when she was 13 years old, and was a member of Beulah Memorial Baptist Church in Brownsville, MS. She lived a fulfilling life as a caring wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was a woman of many passions including plants and flowers, reading, cooking, and later on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved card games and made sure her children and grands knew how to play Rummy by 'Nana's rules'. Roma Dean and Hulon loved children and after rearing their own, became foster parents to several children waiting to be adopted, and always found it difficult to see them leave when they had to go. Later, she enjoyed working at the HCC bookstore in Raymond, making great memories and friends until retiring in 2002.
Roma Dean was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Ima Jean Bardin, brothers Percy Hutton, Jr. and Hugh Hilton Hutton, and her son-in-law Grant Miller.
She is survived by her 4 children: Sue Miller, Vicki Hobson (Bob), Hulon Martin, Jr. (Laura), and Roma Sweatman; also, 9 grandchildren: Richard Miller (Angie), Michael Miller (Rachelle), Bobby Hobson (Amber), Jason Martin (Kristie), Matt Martin (Rainey), Adam Martin, Jacob Martin, Abby Martin, and Deana Harris -Hope (Cedric), 13 great-grandchildren, brothers Doug and Freddie Hutton, as well as, sisters Augusta Fulton and Sarah Speights, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the Lakewood Cemetery Pavilion on Clinton Blvd at 11:00 a.m. Wright & Ferguson in Clinton is handling the arrangements.
Due to COVID-19, the family has asked that facemasks be worn while attending the graveside services.
