Roger Sturdivant, a beloved father, grandfather, artist, and lifelong craftsman, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on November 6, 2024 after a life well-lived, rich in work, creativity, and love. Roger's legacy will continue to be cherished by his family, friends, and the countless people whose lives he touched through his artistry.

Roger was born January 28, 1944 in Jackson, MS . He had a long and distinguished career, beginning with his service to the Mississippi State Tax Commission (now the Mississippi Department of Revenue) where he worked for nearly three decades, from the 1960s to the 1990s. After retiring from government service, Roger pursued a successful career in real estate as an agent with Re-Max until his second retirement.

But it was his passion for craftsmanship and art that truly defined him. A skilled and dedicated artisan, Roger spent many years creating beautiful hand-crafted wooden furniture, which he sold at arts and crafts shows throughout the Mid-South. Later in life, Roger shifted his artistic focus to fused glass, a medium that allowed him to express his creativity in vibrant and innovative ways. He was a proud member of both the Mississippi and Louisiana Craftsman's Guild, with his works featured in magazines and media across the region. His glass art brought joy and inspiration to countless individuals, and his pieces remain a lasting testament to his artistic vision.

Roger was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Carla Anne Sturdivant, with whom he shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. He is survived by his son, Christopher Todd Sturdivant, his granddaughter, Serena Mary Rivers Sturdivant, and his brother, Cliff Sturdivant. His family will forever treasure the memories of his warmth, kindness, and the legacy of creativity he left behind.
