Robin Marie McConnell (Oexman), born Nov. 4, 1955 in Terre Haute, IN, moved on to be with our Lord and Savior on Oct. 16, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was at home and surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing.
Robin had managed many accomplishments in her lifetime. She was a member of the United States Air Force where she graduated as part of one of the first ever classes of female jet engine mechanics. In 1976, she joined the U.S. Air Guard where she proudly served until 1988 when she retired as an E-6 Tech Sergeant. While serving in the Air Guard, she also worked as the first female service writer for Terre Haute Chrysler Plymouth. It was also during her time in the Air Guard that Robin gave birth to her only child, daughter Adrianna Smith, in 1977 and met and married the love of her life, Leonard McConnell, on Dec. 14, 1985. In 1988, Robin and Leonard moved their family to Morrilton, AR where she was part owner and manager of one of the first indoor fish farms in the U.S. In 1991, the family moved to Hot Springs, AR where she graduated top of her class at Garland County Community College earning her RN License and continuing to work as a psychiatric nurse for several years. In 1997, Robin and Leonard moved to Brandon, MS where they started MS Dry Ice, Inc. There she took on the role of part owner and manager. Robin and Leonard also partnered with friends to start MS Carbonation based out of Brandon, MS. In 2005, they made their home in Clinton, MS. In 2012, the couple sold both of their businesses and Robin officially retired from her many careers to spend her time with family and friends, cooking family meals, gardening, traveling to many different locations around the world scuba diving, horse back riding, white water rafting, exploring, and enjoying as much time as possible with her daughter and 3 granddaughters. Robin is reunited in Heaven with her mother, Marita June Oexman, whom we know was awaiting her with a warm embrace.
She is survived by her large family…her husband Leonard, daughter Adrianna (son-in-law James Smith), granddaughters Emma, Lillian, and Greer, father Larry Oexman, sisters Dana, Dawn, and London, brothers Nelson and Lance, several brother and sister in laws, and so many beautiful nieces and nephews whom she loved fiercely. She was an incredibly strong woman who was not afraid of a challenge, loved adventure, and lived her life with a presence that could not be ignored. She forever lives on in the hearts of all of those who love her and will continue to be impacted by the examples she set.
We would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful care given by Baptist Hospice. If desired, family and friends may make donations to the Cancer Research Institute in memory of Robin McConnell.
