Robert "Bob" Graham Morris, 92, passed away at The Arbour in Ridgeland, MS, on Tuesday, July 15. Bob was born June 20, 1933, in Birmingham Alabama, to Barton Bonner Morris and Lura Mae Morris (later Lura Mae Jacobs, after Barton's passing). In 1952, Bob graduated from Ensley High School in Birmingham. Bob attended The University of Alabama where he rooted for the Alabama Crimson Tide, which grew into a lifelong passion for the Tide as well as college football in general.
As an Army draftee, Bob served in the 6th Infantry, 10th Mountain Division during the mid 1950's and specialized in Radio Communication.
In 1957, he began his lifelong career in Radio at WHBB in Selma Alabama, then WJNC in Jacksonville, NC. He moved back to Alabama and worked at WJAM in Marion and WCTA, Andalusia.
In the mid 70's he moved to Jackson MS to work at WOKJ, WJMI and WJNT, for a while becoming the play-by-play man for Jackson State Football and Basketball.
Bob was a cherished member of Alta Woods Methodist Church in Jackson.
He is now be united with his parents, his longtime love Anne, and the many stray cats he took in.
Bob was a lifelong bachelor and a true gentleman and will be missed by many friends, family members & work associates.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, August 5 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral home in Flowood, with the funeral service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in Bob's name to the Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi.
Burial will be August 6 at 10 am at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum in Birmingham AL next to his mother and father.
Bob will forever be remembered for his encyclopedic knowledge of Alabama and SEC Football. He never forgot who you rooted for. Most agree that there wasn't a bad bone in his body.
