Robert Edward Moody, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 19, 2024. Born on February 25, 1938, Robert lived a life defined by faith, family, and service.

For 60 years, Robert was the beloved husband of Bernice Passons Moody, a partnership marked by unwavering love and support. Together, they built a home in Raymond, MS where Robert was an active member of Hinds Independent Methodist Church.

Robert was the proud father of two daughters, Alishia and Dana. His love for his daughters knew no bounds, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness.  As a grandfather to Justin and Brandon, he found joy and fulfillment following their many sports and activities.

Robert was a graduate of Hinds High School in Raymond, MS and attended Hinds Junior College.   In addition, he completed the Mississippi Highway Patrol Academy. He was a highway patrolman in Yazoo City, Biloxi, Lexington, Columbus, Walnut, and primarily, Hinds County.  Robert was promoted to Investigator with the Mississippi Highway Patrol Criminal Investigation Bureau, a role he filled until his retirement in 1996, totaling 33 years of service.  His commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of others was unwavering.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Robert was an avid outdoorsman, finding solace and joy in sharing his love of hunting and fishing with his grandsons. His love for the outdoors was surpassed only by his love for his family and his faith in Jesus Christ. He was a dedicated follower of Christ and found it important to share his beliefs with others.

Robert's generosity knew no bounds. He was known for his acts of kindness towards his extended family, friends, and neighbors. Whether it was cutting grass, helping with home repairs, providing vegetables from his garden, or sharing the bounty of his hunting and fishing trips, he touched countless lives.

Robert Edward Moody is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Banes Moody, his brother, Hugh Norris Moody, and his sister Christine Moody Chennault.  Robert leaves behind his wife, Bernice Passons Moody, daughters, Alishia Moody Baker (Mac) of Raymond, MS and Dana Moody Hellwig (Frank) of Chattanooga, TN, grandsons, Mac Justin Baker (Lauren) of Hernando, MS and Brandon Robert Baker (Shannon) of Ridgeland, MS, great-grandchildren, Luke, Palmer, and London, numerous nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, Pepper.
