February 11, 1937 – December 17, 2022
Robert Louis (Bob) Pollard, 85, of Clinton, Mississippi, passed away on December 17, 2022, of congestive heart failure.
Bob was born on February 11, 1937, to Edwin and Nell Pollard in Winona, Mississippi. After Bob graduated from Greenville High School in 1955, he went on to study at the University of Mississippi for one year and at Mississippi State University for two years.
He started his first job at Atkins Saw in Greenville, Mississippi. Later he worked with GMAC/MIC in Jackson, Mississippi, and was employed by the company until his retirement. While working at GMAC, he earned a business degree from Mississippi College in Clinton.
In early 1961, Bob met the love of his life, Mavis Waddell, who was teaching in Greenville. Bob and Mavis were married on August 12, 1961, celebrating 61 years of marriage this year.
Bob retired from GMAC after 28 years of service and spent his time wood-working, playing golf, and traveling with Mavis.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Nell Pollard; his sister, Marjorie Fleming; his brother, James Edwin Pollard; his father- and mother-in-law, Eugene and Nettie Dee Waddell; and his brother-in-law, Bobby Waddell. He is survived by his wife, Mavis Waddell Pollard; his nieces, Wanda James (Monte), Nicole Barrett (Stacy), and Jodi Hewitt (Jimmy); nephews, Sam Fleming (Mary), Stephen Fleming (Janice), and Jep Pollard (Kristen); and numerous great-nieces and -nephews.
Pallbearers include Kevin Rundlett, Jimmy Hewitt, David McCord, Bob Pavy, Ken Mosley, Mike Kelly and Finn Rundlett.
Officiants for the service include Rev. Dr. Ricky James and Rev. Josh Gray. Mr. Tommy Steadman will provide the music. Mavis is very appreciative of each of these men and the way they honor Bob.
Mavis and the rest of Bob's friends and family would like to express their love and gratitude for the staff of St. Dominic's hospital for the care they gave to Bob during his lengthy stay and want to specifically acknowledge the care given by Bob's regular CNA, Tiffany Greer. She was so kind and caring and loved Bob just like the rest of us! Additionally, Rev. David Steveline visited regularly and provided prayers and spiritual support and we are thankful.
