Robert "Bob" Godfrey was born on September 17, 1956 in Tupelo, MS as the oldest child of Larry and Katie Godfrey. He entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 16th after complications from heart surgery.
His family moved to Clinton when Bob was in the seventh grade. He was a member of the Clinton High School Arrow football and baseball team and graduated from Clinton High School in 1974. He attended Hinds Community College and Mississippi College. He graduated from MS State University in 1979 and remained an avid Bulldog fan.
Bob returned to Clinton High School after college graduation to teach at the Career Complex from 1979 to 1986 and then worked at State Farm Insurance as a Claims Adjuster from 1987 until he retired in 2013.
Bob was dearly loved by his family and was an integral part of their everyday lives. He was devoted to his grandsons, he cherished spending time with them and never missed any of their many sporting events. His deep love for his family extended to his nieces and nephew as well. Bob never met a stranger, kept others laughing with his dry humor and loved big every day of his life.
He is survived by his parents Larry and Katie Godfrey of Clinton; daughters Jana Hunt (Josh) and Molly Granger (Jake); brothers Mike Godfrey (Karen) and Don Godfrey (Lynne) and five grandchildren - Hayden, Cade and Easton Hunt and Hutch and Camp Granger, all of Clinton. He is also survived by Debbie Barfield of Vicksburg, his companion in recent years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 21st in the chapel at First Baptist Church Clinton from 9:30 -11:30 a.m. with a service to immediately follow. Burial will be at Clinton Cemetery.
