Obituary

Rebecca "Becky" (Rosenzweig) Ballenger went to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior on December 11, 2018 at The Woodlands in Clinton, Mississippi. She was 70 years young.
Becky is survived by her husband, soulmate, and love of her life, Thomas "Bailey" Ballenger of Clinton; her daughter, Amanda McElroy (Art) of Clinton, MS; her son, Stephen Ballenger (Jessica Howard) of Clinton, MS; her sister, Rollyns Bush of Jackson, MS; her two cherished granddaughters, Madeline McElroy of Clinton, MS, and Ella Ballenger of Clinton, MS; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; and brother and sisters in-law, and her favorite four-legged babies, Scooter, CeCe, and Jazzy.
Becky was born on March 26, 1948 in Monroe, Louisiana to the late Rudolph "Rudy" and Ethel Rosenzweig. She was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Yvonne Tettleton and Peggy Aulds, both of Louisiana.
Becky was a 1966 graduate of Central High School in Jackson, MS. She received a bachelors degree in education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1970.
She married Bailey on August 14, 1976 at Midway Baptist Church. They spent 42 beautiful and loving years of marriage raising their two children and doting on their two treasured granddaughters. She was especially fond of her five foster grandchildren that she continued to love even after they returned home to their families. She enjoyed traveling, reading, searching for bargains, and was devoted to their community and church.
Becky retired from the State of Mississippi after many years working for both the Department of Economic and Community Development, as well as the Mississippi Development Authority. While she accomplished many wonderful things, her greatest joys were her husband, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. In addition to having a faithful servant's heart, she was a very intelligent woman, an avid reader, and a true Southern belle. She wouldn't dare be caught dead after Labor Day wearing white shoes or slacks, as she called them. Mom never met a buffet or animal she didn't like, and was known to eat anything that didn't eat her first. When she wasn't driving her grandchildren around town or reading, you could find her spending much of her spare time with her sister and brother in law hitting every Dirt Cheap in Mississippi.
A celebration of her life and home-going will be at Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, Mississippi on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will also be at Morrison Heights Baptist on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that gifts can be made to the Becky Ballenger Memorial Fund at Morrison Heights which will enable her to continue serving others who are in need.
