Max Ray Goodman, Jr, 65, of Brandon passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2024.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20th, at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, 114 Burney Drive in Flowood, MS. Services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Angela Ruth Stuart Goodman, his daughter, Analee Goodman Adams; grandchildren, Jakolbe Adams and Jacory Adams; son, Max Ray Goodman, III (Amy) and children. He also leaves his mother, Marva Lee Strong Goodman; sister, Elizabeth Lee Goodman Barnhart; beloved aunt, Willough Dean Goodman Krinard; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Max Ray Goodman.

Ray was born on January 9, 1959, in New Albany, Mississippi. He graduated from W.P. Daniels High School in New Albany, the University of Mississippi, and Hinds Community College.

Ray had a wide-ranging career. From his first job as a veterinarian's assistant, he went on to become, among other things, a pizza maker, a reporter for the Southern Sentinel newspaper in Ripley, MS, and a Master Automotive Technician. Ray had several stints working for the state of Mississippi and his final job was with the Department of Transportation as a Procurement Officer.

Ray loved music. His first instrument was the piano, but he also played the trumpet and guitar. He was good with his hands and could fix just about anything. His many and varied hobbies included metal-detecting, photography, cycling, cooking, and spending time with his faithful dog Fred.
