Rachel Moak Wallace was born on August 8, 1918 in Summit, MS. She died on November 6, 2019 in Clinton, MS at the age of 101 years old.
Rachel was the firstborn of Harvey Moak and Maude Westmoreland. She grew up in Norfield, MS and attended Sweet Water School. She met her husband, Elmer Wallace when she was 14 and they married when she was 15 on December 6, 1933. They raised 2 sons, Marlin (Kay) and Martin (Brenda) and 1 grandson, Marlin Eugene (Nancy) in Bogue Chitto, MS.
Rachel loved the Lord Jesus with all of her heart and served Him at Moaks' Creek Baptist Church until 2008 when she went to live with her grandson in Clinton, MS. She was active at Morrison Heights Baptist Church until her death.
Rachel retired as a seamstress from Stahl Urban and began making quilts. She loved quilting and it showed in the quilts she made and those she quilted for others. She also loved gardening, cooking and most of all spending time with her family.
She is predeceased by her parents Harvey Moak and Maude Westmoreland; her husband, Elmer Wallace; one son, Marlin Wallace; one daughter in law, Brenda Collier Wallace, one granddaughter Yvette Wallace Ellzey; her brothers, Malcolm Moak, Alton Moak, Robert Moak, Walter Moak, Zack Moak, and Edward Moak; her sisters, Easter Moak Cline, Mary Magdalene Moak Adams and Mary Moak Beavers.
She will be greatly missed by her sister Ruth Moak McCullough, Loyd Star, MS; her son, Martin Wallace, Pearl, MS; 6 surviving grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 28 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2019 with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at Moak's Creek Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto, MS. A graveside service will follow at the church cemetery.
