Rachel Ann Miley Upton, 91, formerly of Clinton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at her home. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 beginning at 10:00 am followed by funeral services at 11:30 am all at Providence Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
She was born the daughter of Flora and Marvin Miley and raised on the campus of Belhaven College. She was a lifelong resident of the Jackson area. She and her husband of 73 years, the late D. L. Upton, Jr., were charter members of Westminster Presbyterian Church, now Providence Presbyterian Church. She loved her church and was very active in several church ministries.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Maynell Pleasant. She is survived by three sons, D. L. Upton, III; David Upton; and Doug Upton and his wife Joyce; five grandchildren, Kristi Upton-Hughes; Joe Upton; Jennifer Upton Hensley; Jeremy Upton; Casey Upton; and Lashea Gray; as well as 11 great grandchildren.
