Peggy Jean Pevey, 82, passed away at her home in Clinton, MS on Sunday, October 7th, 2018. She was born in New Orleans, LA on September 21, 1936.
Peggy moved to Clinton, MS with her family in 1952 and graduated from Clinton High School. She retired from the Mississippi Department of Human Services after over 35 years of service. Peggy was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Clinton and was a cherished member of the community. In Peggy's early years she was in the Pilot Club, the Singles Group at First Baptist Church, Forever Young, Joy makers, and was a member of the Senior Adult Choir at FBC. She was an animal lover and adored her two small dogs, Dexter and Benji.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Louise Pevey; niece, Terri Baker Pevey; and nephew, Charles (Chuck) Pevey Jr.
Survivors include her brothers, Gerald (Sue) Pevey and Charles (Judy) Pevey along with a great niece, seven nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be at First Baptist Church, Clinton on Thursday October 11th, 2018 in the New Sanctuary from 1 to 2 pm with eulogy to follow at 2pm. She will be laid to rest at Clinton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to CARA (Community Animal Rescue & Adoption) in her name.
