Obituary

Paul Richard Fayard, age 62, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, in Clinton, Miss. from complications of ALS.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Wolfe, of Clinton; his sisters, Jeanne Turnipseed (Bob May), Mary Ellen Alack (Jimmy), Elaine Kottemann (Ron), all of New Orleans; and brother, Ola A. Fayard, lll (Diane) of Jemison, Ala.; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ola A. Fayard, Jr., and mother, Dorothy Marie Clade Fayard.

Born in New Orleans on August 21, 1960, he graduated from Brother Martin High School. Paul later moved to Miss. and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts from Mississippi College. He lived and worked in Crystal Springs and Clinton, Miss., for many years.

Paul was a prolific artist whose paintings and works are found in many private and corporate collections. He had a wonderfully wicked sense of humor that never waned, even in the face of his difficult illness.

A private service for the family will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 2-3 pm at the Clinton Community Nature Center (CCNC) located at 617 Dunton Rd, Clinton, 39056.

A public reception and celebration of Paul's life and work will follow from 3-5 pm in Price Hall at the CCNC. Street parking is available.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial gift in Paul's honor to support two causes he cared deeply about.

Compassion & Choices is a national organization dedicated to enabling people across the US to choose end-of-life care that reflects their values, priorities, and beliefs. ( https://www.compassionandchoices.org/ways-to-give ).

Paul felt strongly that any person with a terminal illness and less than 6 months to live should have the option to choose medical aid in dying so that they can die peacefully in their sleep, surrounded by their loved ones.

Paul also loved to help stray animals and he supported the Big Fix Clinic in Richland, Miss. ( https://www.msspan.org/big_fix_clinic ).

The family is grateful for the kindness of Clinton neighbors and friends during Paul's illness.
