Obituary

Patsy Oakes Cocke, beloved mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord peacefully at her home on Sunday morning, January 22, 2023.

Patsy was born October 17, 1929 to Frank and Lillie Oakes in Jackson, Mississippi. She graduated from Central High School in 1947 and attended Millsaps College. Patsy married Sam Lewis Cocke on June 19, 1949. Patsy and Sam were both members of Calvary Baptist Church.

Patsy worked twenty-five years for McRae's Department Store. She was a Girl Scout leader and was actively involved in all her children's activities. Patsy was an avid reader and loved a good mystery. Patsy was a great cook and loved preparing family meals especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas time. She was an extremely thoughtful and generous lady.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Huston Oakes, and Sam her husband of sixty-five years.

Patsy is survived by her four children; Lewis Cocke, Frank Cocke, Patricia Whitton
(Ed), Wren Fulton (Murray).

She is survived by seven grandchildren; Brian Whitton, Brett Whitton (Deidre), Lauren Buffington (Phillip), Drew Fulton (Evi), Matt Fulton (Katie), Lesley Fulton, Paris Cocke and ten great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m.  Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Wright and Ferguson in Clinton with service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank Willie Ruth Fair, Chandra King and Shirley Hall for their devoted care of Patsy during her last years.
